Our vision for the future of Cherry Community Events is to:

  • Secure non-profit status

  • Provide a platform for artists to actualize their community-engaging event ideas through mutually enriching partnership

  • Attract donors and sponsors who share our vision of barrier-free or otherwise affordable access to the arts for people of all ages, statuses, backgrounds, and conditions

  • Deliver programming that delivers quality through content over quantity

  • Build a reputation, brick by brick, of event coordination that is efficient, reliable, and personable

  • Develop a network of artists, performers, organizations, funders, and venues who would benefit through our facilitation

Cherry Community Events is an emerging organization currently seeking non-profit status. Our mission seeks to support artist educators, arts organizations, administrators, and advocates alike in service of the broader public. We work collaboratively to elevate and advocate for arts access in Ontario.

Position Descriptions

Cherry Community Events is an independent operation seeking professionals passionate about accessible arts events in the following areas: 

  • Law and/or Board Governance 

  • Accounting and/or Bookkeeping

  • Social Media, Marketing

  • Event Production

We are currently looking for individuals to join the board as a Director for a single-year term starting in 2026.

Board membership is voluntary. Board members may not receive financial or other benefits. Whether you are an established or emerging leader, we invite you to consider this great opportunity for demonstrative service, community impact, and leadership experience. We are working to build a diverse leadership team that represents the communities we aim to engage. Cherry Community Events encourages applicants from BIPOC, 2SLGBTQIA+, disabled and other equity-deserving communities to apply and self-identify during the application process. 

General Board Responsibilities:

  • Be members of Cherry Community Events

  • Commit to a single-year term, with the possibility to renew for up to two additional terms;

  • Attend Virtual Board Meetings once a month;

  • Collaborate with the Board of Directors to support the planning and facilitation of ongoing programming and events (in-person and/or digital), share resources, and stimulate conversation and engagement amongst membership; 

  • Advocate for the role of Cherry Community Events in the broader arts education community;

  • Work in close collaboration with board members to review/develop governance policies, contracts, by-laws and resolutions; 

  • Assist in the development of an organizational strategy, including ensuring the organization abides by legislative requirements; 

  • Ensure the organization’s financial stability and overall performance. Ensure the integrity of accounting practices.
